Garden Start

Do you have a place on your property you would like to convert into a native plant garden?  And are you willing to put labor into it, but unsure what to grow or how to get started?  Our “Garden Start” service can help.  For $500, Wild Nurseries will design a garden of up to 200 square feet for you, and advise you through the initial steps of getting it prepared and planted. We will help you decide how to kill existing vegetation, obtain plants for you at discount prices,* and give you technical assistance in site preparation, proper placement of plants, and successful maintenance over the first year.  By doing the physical labor yourself, not only will you save the cost of an expensive installation, but through coming to know your plants and their needs you will improve the long-term success of the project.

If you are not in a position to do the work yourself, Wild Gardens is open to working with a landscaper of your choosing.  In this scenario, after preparing a garden plan we would charge an hourly fee to work with the landscaping company on plant selection, ordering and placement. 

Because site preparation can take time, it is best to begin the planning process a minimum of several months before planting is scheduled to take place.  If the site is currently overgrown or surrounded by weeds, a year of preparation may be needed to kill the weed seed bank in the soil.  So don’t hesitate to get started soon with the design stage.
